Anastasius Gavras (Eurescom GmbH, Germany)

Title: Towards definition and measurement of KPIs in 6G.

Bio: Anastasius Gavras has more than 30 years of professional experience in academic and industry research. He joined Eurescom, 24 years ago as programme manager, focusing on the areas of management of networks & systems, security and middleware. In these areas he has managed a large number of studies and projects on topics which are of concern to the Eurescom member community of European telecom network operators and the European telecom industry at large. He has served as coordinator of several RTD projects under the European framework programmes and has experience in standardisation among others in ITU-T and OMG for which he has served as rapporteur. His current interests are large scale testbeds for enabling experimentation and innovation in beyond 5G and Next Generation Internet technologies and systems among others in the context of the Smart Network and Services (SNS) programme and the 5G-PPP. He is member of the steering board and the technology board of the 5G PPP and is actively involved in several work groups in the area of 5G and SNS. Currently he is the co-ordinator of 6G BRAINS and is involved in the co-ordination of several other projects. He is author or co-author of several papers and articles.


Harilaos Koumaras (NCSR Demokritos, Greece)

Title: 5G Network Programmability and Openness: A first Step towards 6G with native-AI capabilities.

Bio: Dr. Harilaos Koumaras is a Research Assistant Professor at the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications of NCSR “Demokritos”, Greece. He has published more than 100 articles focused on 5G/B5G systems, 5G Openness, network virtualization, SDN/NFV, MANO, and quality of service/experience in media delivery. Harilaos is the technical manager of the H2020 5G-PPP EVOLVED-5G project and the technical manager of the Horizon Europe AEROS project.


Adrian Kliks (Poznan University of Technology, Poland)

Title:  Application of context information in RIS-equipped wireless networks.

Bio: Adrian Kliks received his postdoctoral degree (habilitation) in Technical Computer Science and Telecommunications in February 2019. He works as a University Professor at the Institute of Radiocommunications of the Poznan University of Technology. He took part in numerous international research projects such as URANUS, NEWCOM++, ACROPOLIS, COGEU, NEWCOM#, and COHERENT; also he participated in COST Actions IC0902 and COST-Terra (IC 0905). He was a member of national projects EcoNets, and Bionets and is an OPUS project manager on V2X communication and RISes. Currently, he is co-chair of the vertical theme in COST CA20120 INTERACT action on intelligent transportation. A Senior member since 2013. Since 2019 he has worked as an editor-in-chief of the Journal of Telecommunications and Information Technology of the Institute of Communications.


Leandros A. Maglaras (De Montfort University, UK)

Title:  rEsilient and seLf-healed EleCTRical pOwer Nanogrid.

Bio: Dr. Leandros A. Maglaras is a Professor of cybersecurity at the School of Computer Science and Informatics of De Montfort University. From September 2017 to November 2019, he was the Director of the National Cyber Security Authority of Greece. He obtained a B.Sc. (M.Sc. equivalent) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 1998, an M.Sc. in Industrial Production and Management from the University of Thessaly in 2004, and an M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Thessaly, in 2008 and 2014 respectively. In 2018 he was awarded a Ph.D. in Intrusion Detection in SCADA systems from the University of Huddersfield He is featured in Stanford University’s list of the world’s Top 2% of scientists. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and is an author of more than 200 papers in scientific magazines and conferences.


John S. Vardakas (Iquadrat, Spain)

Title:  MAchine learning-based, networking and computing infrastructure ReSource mAnagement of 5G and Beyond inteLligent networks: the MARSAL Vision.

Bio: Dr. John S. Vardakas received the Dipl.-Eng. in Electrical Computer Engineering from the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece, in 2004 and his Ph.D from the Electrical Computer Engineering Dept., University of Patras, Greece in 2012. He has authored more than 45 journal articles and 75 conference articles, while he has participated in more than 15 competitive EU research programs (2 of them served as the Project Coordinator). His research interests include teletraffic engineering, performance analysis and simulation of communication networks and especially of optical networks. He is a senior member of the IEEE and a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE).


Vasilis Sourlas (ICCS-NTUA, Greece)

Title:  5G-IANA: 5G Intelligent Automotive Network Applications.

Bio: Dr. Vasilis Sourlas received his Diploma degree from the Computer Engineering and Informatics Department, University of Patras, Greece, in 2004 and the M.Sc. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the same department in 2006. In 2013 he received his PhD from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Thessaly (Volos), Greece. In Jan. 2015 he joined the Electronic and Electrical Engineering Department, UCL, London to pursue his two years Marie Curie IEF. Since 2017 he is working as a senior researcher in ICCS-NTUA (I-SENSE group), participating and leading various EU-funded projects. From 2022 he is the Head of Intelligent Transport Systems (Research & Operations) of the I-SENSE group.


Dimitris Filippou (PRISMOUS, Greece)

Title: Application-specific Generic Cabling Standards

Bio: Dimitris Filippou is a Technical Director at PRISMOUS. At the International level, Dimitris is a Senior Member of IEEE ComSoc (IEEE member for 27 years). He is BICSI Country Chair for Greece (BICSI member for 21 years). He is also Professional Engineer member of CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS INSTITUTE (CSI) for the last 4 years, as well as he is Consulting Member of ETHERNET ALLIANCE (EA) since 2019. Dimitris is also involved in the National Technical Committee ELOT TC93, and he is delegate of the Greek National Committee in CENELEC TC215. At the European level, Dimitris is primarily involved in CENELEC CLC TC215 Working Group 1 (WG1) and in Working Group 2 (WG2). He is also involved in the work of CLC TC215 Working Group 3 (WG3) on the EN 50600 series – addressing energy efficiency enablement within data centre facilities and infrastructures. At the International level, Dimitris is involved in Power over Ethernet (PoE), High Speed Networking (HSN) and Single Pair Ethernet (SPΕ) Subcommittees of ETHERNET ALLIANCE. Dimitris is a regular writer of technical articles about the International and European standards for the design and installation of IT (Telecommunications) infrastructures and a speaker in a number of conferences, providing regular updates on the progression of the International and European IT (Telecommunication) standards in the Greek market.
